Your First Autoresponder Message

SO, you are setting up for your first date, sorry, I mean your first autoresponder message.

Well, think of it as your first date with your browser. This is your next opportunity to convert your browser into a real follower. At this point your browser has most likely read your AboutUs or BIO page and thinks it would be in their best interest to follow you. How do we convert a browser into a follower with your first autoresponder? Let us share what we have found to work and some additional ideas we found in researching the web on this.

Select your Autoresponder Engine:

  • Your first autoresponder message will need to be set up with either an app on your website or a third party vendor. While setting up your own Autoresponder may be an option, we do not suggest this. Our main reason is, as your list grows so will the volume of emails being sent from your Autoresponder. Many of the vendors out there spend big money developing their mail delivery systems. We have two suggestions GetResponses or MailChimp. Both have awesome interfaces and metrics to manage your messages. We have utilized GetResponses for our Ambit Energy business and find their product very rich. For this site we are building our autoresponder with MailChimp as it is easier to integrate into our WordPress structure. MailChimp is also great for starting up with little working capital. You can manage an account there of 2,000 subscribers and 12,000 emails a month for FREE. With either of these vendors you know your first autoresponder message will be delivered to your browser.

Overcome First Date Jitters :)

  • Now that you have your Autoresponder set up. The next part is designing your first autoresponder email. Just like a first date, your browser may be nervous and unsure if the relationship will work out. How do we take the edge off for your browser. Send them a bottle of wine :) . Well, figuratively anyway. Your bottle of wine may be a free eBook you created to help with a pain in your particular industry. Along with this add a personal story to the email body that compliments your wine.

Share a Success Story:

  • When we browse websites of others we look for parallels of success. We make a decision to continue to follow a persons emails and posts when we can relate to them. By having a success story in their first email lets us connect right away. We even take huge stock when a partner’s success is shared. The key here is that we see the persons ability to share success with others and hopefully, us too.

Cure an Immediate Pain:

  • This may have been covered in your “Wine”, but it helps to state your cure again. Now some cures are long term and others are immediate. In today’s world where everyone looks for instant gratification a quick cure is huge. Now a way to look at this in long term models would be to look at an accomplishment that can be achieved early and also be a step towards curing a bigger pain.

Leave Bread Crumbs for next e-Mail:

  • In closing of your first autoresponder message, make sure to leave some breadcrumbs. These breadcrumbs will help your browser, now hopefully a follower, be waiting for the next email from you. Now, what breadcrumbs can we close with? We can use a peak into an upcoming conference, talk about an interview of a mentor, or simply give a schedule of discussion points.

Establishing Your First Autoresponder

Here are a few bread crumbs for you, in hope that you remain a follower of ours.

Have you set up an AutoResponder? Is it set up with your blog and social media accounts? In the Social Comments below, let us know if you have an AutoResponder setup and ready to capture browsers and convert into followers. In our next post we will review how we are setting up MailChimp with this site.

Top 5 AboutUs Tips

Top 5 AboutUs Page Tips

What is on your AboutUs Page? Did you know this is page is one of the most visited page of blogs and websites? A clear and interesting AboutUs page will influence your browsers into becoming a subscriber. With our Top 5 AboutUs Page Tips, we hope to lend you the proper direction in building you a super silent sales person.

We have researched the web for the best tips to building a silent salesperson to sell you to your new viewers. Now, so you do not feel overwhelmed we narrowed our list down to the top 5 AboutUs page tips. We found make these make the biggest difference in converting a browser into a follower.

AboutUs Page Tips #1 – The Ta-Dah Factor – Be Snappy, Be Catchy and Show Yourself!

I have seen from multiple mentors and websites shows how much a browser trusts an expert is being able to see the expert is real. Share a nice picture of yourself. We have seen many different styles for pictures. We have seen professional head-shots to pictures showing the expert having “Fun” and every where in between. We will stay with the two most common we will refer to as Head-Shots and Fun Photos. I personally like the Head-Shot as it displays a professional manner of yourself. However, as viewing many of my mentors about pages, many are choosing a Fun Photo. It really depends on the type of business you are conducting. I am thinking of using a Fun Photo in my next AboutUs page revision. Let me tell you why. In today’s social media generation we are noticing a turn from the old business model to a newer social business model. Browsers want to connect to people they can relate to. A Fun Picture will show a more personable side to yourself and a browser may relate to you better.

AboutUs Page Tips #2 – Social Proof

Take a moment and think. Have you ever been recommended to go to a specific mechanic, flower shop or even diner? While you are writing your page it is a great idea to mention a mentor or two, even linking to your mentor. As an added value, if you have a mention by your mentor, link to that mention. With WordPress plugins there are many ways to show social proof. We like to use Spider Facebook. With this app you can add a sidebar to show your FaceBook Fan Page. It also lets your browser see how many followers you have on FaceBook. All of this is to show your browser your social proof.

AboutUs Page Tips #3 – Be Real, Not a Super Hero

As you are writing your page you want to keep your experiences simple. What I mean is do not make it look like only you can succeed in your experiences. If your goal is to help them succeed with a similar process and you sell yourself like a super hero, the browser may not feel they will be able to have the same experience. In addition, open your own failures to your browser. This will help the browser relate and understand they are not the only ones that experience highs and lows in life.

AboutUs Page Tips #4 – What you can do for “Them”

When a browser is looking over your site and page, they are ultimately looking for what you may be able to offer them. Remember that while you are writing your page. Now do not go into a sales mode. However go into a problem solving mode. Focus on one of your common business hurts and express how you have already helped make the hurt go away. It is also a good idea to link to an actual client or partner to help in validation. If you share any of your failures make sure to share how you learned and grew from them. You will be surprised how many of you browsers may have experienced the same, but never overcame them.

AboutUs Page Tips #5 – Call To Action

With this page being a big part of your silent salesperson, are you maximizing your opportunities with a call to action? This is a great time to convert your browser to a subscriber. This is a great place to put your blog subscription form or e-Mail list. Remember the browser is just getting to know you so take action yourself and put together a great first e-Mail. Fear not if you do not have experience in this, I will be reviewing this topic for next week.

Top 5 AboutUs Page Tips

Direct Sales

Direct Sales in the US topped over $80 Billion in 2015.

This number comes from just the top 100 Direct Selling companies on the Direct Selling News website that was published last month. With an average payout over the years of about 38% to distributors and consultants, that equates to over $30 Billion dollars put back into the pockets of fellow Direct Sales marketers. Let me ask you, did you have an opportunity at your JOB in 2015 to have a share of anything like this?

I wanted to take a look at how other industries did last year. Jumping onto the web it is easy to find data, using the DSN and Statista sites for my findings. With the exception of Oil and Transportation, that just blew every other industries revenues away by 10-20 fold, I confirmed that the Direct Sales industry definitely leads the way. If we block the Music, Video and Movie Industry together for their 2015 sales only equal about half of our industry. The NFL last year barely equaled about 20% of our industries sales.

Direct Sales in 2015

I put the above graphic together to share with my Ambit Energy team and figured it is a great share for our master mind team.

If you find value in this Golden Nugget, please share it with with your team. Likewise, if you have any topics to share with our mastermind team, please email us so we can include your Golden Nugget with the team.

Email Marketing and Building Subscribers

Email marketing can be profitable for any business, no matter what kind of product or service you offer.

It is significantly cheaper than other advertising methods and, if done right, helps build loyalty and trust with customers. As a result, you generate more sales and more profits!

The foundation for successful email marketing is a targeted, permission-based email list. Marketers call contact lists their ‘goldmine’ because it can generate much of their sales revenue. If you’ve built up a list of opt-in subscribers that are qualified and interested in what you have to offer, then you’ve completed the first step and are on your way.
Now it’s time to ‘mine’ for gold!
Email Marketing Golden Nuggets
Below you’ll find several list-building and retention ideas that will help you get the best results from all your email marketing activities:

Top 15 Ways to Build Your Subscriber List

  1. Provide useful, relevant content. Your visitors will not give you their email addresses just because they can subscribe to your newsletter free of charge. You have to provide unique and valuable information that will be of interest or use to them.
  2. Add a subscription form to every page on your website. Make sure it stands out so it is easy to find. If it doesn’t look cluttered, you may want to include more than one on some pages. For instance, if your opt-in form always appears in the top-left corner of your site, you may want to add one at the end of your most popular articles.
  3. Add subscription forms to your social media pages. Make sure that you don’t waste this valuable source of revenue opportunities. Integrate your sign-up forms with Facebook and more!
  4. Make it easy for readers to sign up. The more information you request, the fewer people will opt-in. In most cases, a name and an email address should suffice. If it’s not necessary, don’t include it here. You can always survey them once they’re customers! We do recommend that you provide a link to your Privacy Policy however.
  5. Publish a Privacy Policy. Let your readers know that they can be confident you will not share their information with others. The easiest way to do this is to set up a Privacy Policy web page and provide the link to it below your opt-in form. (Note: If you don’t have one, put the words ‘privacy policy generator’ into a search engine and you should be able to find a suitable form to use.)
  6. Provide samples of your newsletters and Ezines. This lets potential subscribers review your materials before they sign up to determine if it’s something they’d be interested in.
  7. Archive past newsletters and articles. An online library of past newsletters and articles is both appealing and useful to visitors and builds your credibility as an authority. In addition, if your articles are written with good SEO techniques in mind, they can increase traffic to your website through enhanced search engine positioning.
  8. Give gifts subscribers can actually use. Offer an opt-in bonus for joining your subscriber list! Write an ebook or provide a PDF business report, or even hire a programmer to create downloadable or web-based software. But don’t limit yourself to offering gifts to opt-ins. Give them out when your readers fill out a survey, provide a testimonial, success story, or a great product idea. Let them know when they can expect the next gift offer. Everyone likes to get something for free! And if you pass out ‘goodies’ throughout the year, your subscribers will feel truly appreciated − and that’s good for business!
  9. Ask your subscribers to pass it on. Word of mouth is a powerful viral technique that works great with email marketing. If your subscribers find your content interesting, amusing or informative, they’ll probably share it with their friends. This can be a great source of new customers, so make sure to remind them to ‘pass it on’.
  10. Let others reprint your newsletter as long as the content is not modified. If you’re happy to share your content with the universe, then why not! Many webmasters and newsletter publishers are actively looking for high-quality content and, if they reprint your newsletter, you’ll get new subscribers, and more traffic and links pointing to your site.
  11. Include a ‘Sign Up’ button in your newsletter. If you’re using plain text instead of HTML, be sure to provide a text link to your subscription page. You may feel that this is not required because the subscriber is already on your list, but remember that readers will forward your newsletters to others, or reprint them online. Make it easy for them to subscribe!
  12. Add a squeeze page. A squeeze page has one goal − to acquire opt-ins and build your list. Think of it as a mini-sales letter to go along with your subscription or opt-in gift. It should feature a strong headline and a couple of powerful benefits that should make subscribers salivate to sign up! Once created, use a service such as WordTracker to find hundreds of targeted keywords, and promote your offer using pay-per-click advertising from Google, MSN and Yahoo. Now that should make a splash!
  13. Include testimonials on your squeeze page. This is crucial. Put one or two strong testimonials from satisfied customers on your squeeze page. This can be in any format, but you may find that multimedia (audio or video) is more ‘believable’ and inspires more people to action. To further enhance believability, get permission to use actual customer names, locations and/or urls (Don’t use ‘Bob K, FL’). Add a note inviting others to participate. After all, it’s free publicity!
  14. Blog religiously. Blogging is a great way to communicate with prospects and potential customers, and creates a nice synergy with your email marketing. Be sure to include your newsletter sign-up form on each page of your blog. You can start a free blog at Blogger or WordPress.
  15. Post on other blogs. Post thoughtful comments and information on similar blogs with a link to your squeeze or opt-in pages. Also comment on others’ blogs through trackbacks. In most cases, your comments will be posted on their blogs with a link back to your site. This is an easy way to generate new traffic and subscribers, and get your brand out there!
